135. 000 miles of HARD towing in the MTs of the west on my 04 and finally did the first brake job today. Very happy with that kind of service, typical combined weight is between 19,000 and 24,000#. I do have a PacBrake and would not be without it. I upgraded to Baer slotted-drilled rotors, with Hawk Extreme HD pads. Got reman stock calipers. Will do the first tow next week, kind of excited to see how it goes. OR STOPS I should say.

Sounds good! I just ordered new rotors and pads for front and rear today. I looked at slotted aftermarket rotors, but heard that there is a whirring sound when applying the brakes. I wasn't sure if you would hear that noise in one of our trucks, so I just ordered stock (non-value line) rotors and pads from the dealer.
By the way, my first pads (OE) went 60,000 miles. Second set (EBC Greenstuff) only went 30,000. Rotors are almost at minimum.

You probably wont notice a difference. If you got 135k miles out of the originals, you brake gentle and use the exhaust brake well. I would guess you spent good money on hype:-laf however there is nothing wrong with an upgrade on brakes for a little extra margine of safety in a pinch.

That kind of service from stock parts speaks well of the quality. I would be hard pressed to go back with anything different but oem. Good luck with the new parts. Report back because I would be curious to how the new parts perform in comparison.
