I redid the buttons at the top of the forums today to speed up loading the forum pages for those unforetunate enough to still be on a dial up connection ;) . They now load as two graphics background (white and grey) and the text in the buttons is just that - text. Before, each button was it's own graphic. Let me know if you have any problems with the formatting of them - and let me know what browser you are using and what resolution you are running your screen at if you do.

I'm in the process of doing a minor interim update on the rest of the website as we speak and will be using buttons like this on the rest of the site as well so please let me know if you have any trouble with them.

The buttons can lose registration with their

names if you change font size in your browser.

I mostly use size 18; something I wouln't have

to do if that were my age.

I'm using a browser called Galeon which I think

is based on Mozilla (so is Netscape). This is all

using Linux.

Otherwise everything is good and better so far!

I've been off the computer for 4 days. Couldn't even log on with the old address. Had to redo that.

As for the buttons - I count about 4 that I use. Too bad we couldn't remove the ones we don't want. They are on the main page and that is fine but sure clutters up the top of the forums page.

I know, *****, ***** *****!!

I did that initially back at the end of last year when I redesigned the forums Stan. We got LOTS of complaints from users because they didn't want to have to go to the front page to get to where they wanted to go so I brought them back. I've tried to make them as compact as possible so they load quickly and so they take up as little space as possible. I was hoping to get people to use the front page more rather than just parking themselves in the forums - but oh well. It's all a balancing act!

John - the buttons should be fixed for you now. I did some research and was able to find an alternative way of defining the font so that it wouldn't resize the text on the buttons when you change your settings. Let me know if it didn't work for you.

I still have to set the minimum font size to 10 pt. to keep the buttons looking right, and at 1280x1024 resolution on a 21" monitor, 10 pt's kind-of small.
