I recently put out a post about having to get a new Catalytic Converter at only 16000 miles, anyway, finally got the truck back from the dealer a week later, but not only did the CAT get replaced but also the DPF filter, Dealer said it was a good job that it was under warranty, he said that the DPF filter was clogged with soot and needed replacing, I am worried that this might happen again, don't see much about it online, warranty runs out in a few weeks, what other reason could cause the soot? They said the engine checked out fine.

Do you have the work order? I understand what they are calling the DPF but I fail to understand what the are referring to as the “cat”.

Ps it’s just a DPF. Not DPF filter. The “F” stands for filter.

DPF's and CAT's do not fail by themselves. There is still an unsolved problem and unless they properly diagnose and repair it, the DPF will again clog. And FYI, the Maxcare does not cover the DPF.

They would be emission related and should be covered under that part of the warranty. That's why they're not covered with MaxCare. On a 2020 they're covered by the Federal Emission warranty which is 5yr/50K.

I wonder if it is an unsolved problem and later this might happen again, I think also that I need to take the truck and give it long freeway runs, lately I have not used it that much and when I have it's been to work and back with some traffic.
