It is so rare that I have a "positive" consumer related experience that I decided to post one. I'm a detective in Miami-Dade county and I was working an auto theft detail. I saw a vehicle run a red light and I stopped the driver to check him out. He was driving a Honda accord, a popular vehicle among auto thieves here in Miami. I asked him if he knew why I stopped him. He said, "No. " The young guy was a little nervous. I asked him again if he knew why I stopped him. He now said that, "I may have run the yellow light. " I quickly replied that if he had just run the yellow light that I would not have stopped him. The driver got a little more nervous and finally conceded that he did run the red light. Since I was looking for stolen vehicles I really was not interested in issuing him a citation as long as he was honest. I filled out a warning card and asked him what he did for a living. He said that he repairs transmissions on diesel trucks at a five star Dodge dealership. I almost fell back wards as I exclaimed to him, "Holy Moses, you are so NOT getting a ticket!!" The driver was even more nervous at my exuberant reaction as I began to explain to him that my Ram of only 2,000 miles has the dreaded "clutch rattle" described in a TSB. He said that he is very conscientious mechanic and that he can repair it under warranty no problems. Got the truck back in two days and rattle is gone. More importantly, I found a good mechanic that will properly work on my vehicle. He even doubled checked all the fluid levels and had the truck washed. I know that it is all under warranty anyways but it is nice to be able to trust your "baby" to a professional.
