Yes, you're very lucky.

The clutch shudder I picked up after the TSB has gone away considerably over the last 2 weeks. I'm going to give it another 2 weeks to work itself out before taking it back to the dealer. Heck, if it's 80% gone by then I'll probably live with it. I feel like I'm playing roulette every time I take it in.

Take 2 dozen warm glazed donuts in with the truck. Always works for me. Last time I got it washed and vacuumed out too! ;)

I did that at another dealership and got nothing but attitude. It put them on the defensive right away, like "what's this guy trying to get away with?". Turns out it was a crappy shop, and I was wasting my time there to begin with.

Now if I get excellent service I'll do something like that afterwards, after they've earned it. But a good shop won't need donuts or pizza up front to do quality work.

I'm starting to think there are no Diesel worthy Dodge service departments in the entire state of Arizona. Really makes me wonder what living hell the Viper owners must go through every time they hand over their keys to a department that services mainly light trucks and Intrepids.

Maybe they had to wash the inside because they got donut glaze all over your steering wheel and radio knobs on their way to get milk at the convenience store :D *kidding*

Latest from DC & Star:

Went in Tues 7-22 for p/s pump replacement and mech said he would order the clutch & throwout. Got call back from service writer Wed, DC will not replace the clutch as it will not fix the noise problem. They are looking into this problem and when they have a fix will call dealer to have me scheduled for repair.

Dats All folks..... 4 now

Suggest anyone else with noise problem (mine sounds like a rod knock when in neutral & cool temps, 40* or lower) get on the list with your dealer.

Ben,

That is what mine sounded like and the tsb fixed it. Maybe there are multiple reasons for the noises that we are hearing. Mine is absolutely quiet.

I was wondering if this TSB only applies to the NV5600? I have an NV4500, S. O. cummins with 2500 miles on it and haven't noticed any noise.

I drove the heck out of it today hauling hay in the moiuntains and clatter hasn't come back yet. Not that this really means anything but the clatter started when I was pulling a well loaded stock trailer. I hope it's fixed until it wears out from use.

Just in reply, I would guess that DC has "discovered" that there are more than a few problems and that changing out the clutch may or MAY NOT cure the problem. This opinion is from reading the threads about the noise problem(s) we are having. They may be trying to do it "correctly" (would be a first) and solve all the problems with the clutch/trans noises or they could have another "bad" batch of disks and dont want to change them 2x's.

EDIT: or they could have all their "talent" tied up trying to solve the DURANGO's front end problems

Other than being annoying, I don't think the rattle will have much to do with the longevity of the components involved. We are hearing a lot more with these quiet engines. I am very happy with the new quietness of my truck, but I never felt that it was going to leave me on the road before I had the rattle fixed.

Duck,

I just had mine done and the rattle is gone but I have the shudder same as yours. :( Please tell me your shudder is now gone!

Cheers Ken

The shudder is all but gone. I notice it sometimes, but it's definitely better than it was when I started this thread. Rattle noise never came back.
