I just installed a South Bend 13'' Con FE with a 1-3/8'' input and a new flywheel. When I went to go for my test drive I could not get it in gear. I had to remove my floor mat (factory not very thick) just to barley get it in gear.

Once I got it in gear I have some creep. I have put about 250 miles on it and it's a little better but it's still difficult to get in gear from a stop. Mostly first and reverse.

I was wandering if this was common and what I can do to correct it. I was thinking about adding a little length to the slave cylinder push rod. I know South Bend sells a hydraulic upgrade but I don't think I really need it cause the pedal pressure feels less than stock.

The hydraulics will readjust themselves if you lengthen the push rod, and you'll end up right back where you are now (the clutch self-adjusts like hydraulic disk brakes). I'd give SBC a call.
