I got my new clutch installed last night (this morning actually 3:00am). First impression when I started the truck was that I forgot to hook up the clutch slave cylinder. However, when it worked normally putting it into gear it confirmed it was hooked up. I can not believe how easy the pedal pressure is  it is so much easier/lighter than the stock one I took out. The old throwout bearing was in need of replacement and the shaft it slides on was pretty gummed up, so maybe just my cleaning of it and a new throwout bearing made the big difference?

Anyone else notice a much lighter pedal effort than stock when installing a Con FE clutch?

Also, my old clutch would engage with the pedal about half way to the floor (roughly), this new one engages about 3/4 of the way to the floor. Question number one is where should it engage at? Next question is how do you adjust it?

I'm still breaking it in, however here are the differences I've noticed so far...

Much less pedal effort (may be due to the gummed up shaft and bad throwout bearing the stocker had).

Much less noise at low rpms (~900 to 1000 rpms).

More holding power (obviously).

Piece of mind.....

As far as being too grabby - no way. I was expecting the worst, it's not much different that the stock one so far (driving unloaded).

Very satisfied with my purchase :D from Power by Poole :D

BTW, this was my first clutch replacement. Using the instructions off of www.dodgedieseldatabase.com I was able to remove the stock clutch in 6 hours and install the new one in 6 hours. This was all by myself and would be much easier with two people ;)

Mine was not as grabby as everyone led me to believe either, the only time it gets bad is backing a trailer up any sort of incline.

I put a Con OFE in my truck and too noticed greatly reduced pedal pressure. During the course of breaking it in, the pedal pressure slowly returned to near stock.

I had the same observations. The clutch really starts acting up when it heats up, when backing a trailer or constant stop and go traffic with a load. It's hard to feather it, but other than that the clutch is awesome.

When I was running an FE, I also noticed that it was significantly lighter than a stock clutch. I currently run a SBC 3850 12CB DD, and it is a little heavier ;) than stock.
