Got the truck back this afternoon. Found that the pilot bearing had grenaded and grooved the input shaft pretty badly. The old rally clutch was actually in excellent shape. It only has about 18,000 miles on it. I figure someone who wants a cheap clutch could still make use of it. I chose to go ahead and use the OFE just because I knew I wanted the extra holding power. Anyway, just feels good to have the truck back and running good. Now I need to go tackle that oil leak by the vacuum pump. Oh well one thing at a time.
By the way if anyone knows someone who might want that rally clutch let me know it is rated for 350hp so it should be great for someone wanting the extra holding power who isn't going to go wild on the bombing. I'll probably throw it up in the pay it forward section in the next few weeks.
