I've always been a Ford guy, but recently purchased a my first CTD (actually, first diesel truck) and have loved it so far. I needed some more towing capability and now I've got it.
However, I had some problems right up front. I took the truck back to the dealer because of the pinging everyone talks about on this site, and I found I had a bad injector. Result: no truck for a week and a half. The new injector didn't help the ping at all.
Ever since then I've been a little paranoid about different things regarding the truck and wasn't happy with the dealers answers.
I was hoping some of you can answer a couple of questions for me.
I have spent a few hours reading as many threads as possible and I think everyone agrees the pinging in the 600 is normal. Mine does it really bad.
I've also read different opinions on the white smoke at start-up. Mine never used to do this, but has just started in the past week or so. It is only on start-up and lasts for about 15 seconds. It only does it if the truck has not been running for a couple of hours. Nothing has really changed (weather wise, fuel, etc. ) So can anyone tell me what causes the white smoke?
I really appreciate any input.
