New Crank Shaft

Just informed by the dealer that the tone wheel was out of whack because the crank itself was bad. Of course this cannot be done with any quickness. My questions: How in the *ell does a stock truck at 60,000 miles develop a bad crankshaft and wouldn't a bad crank screw up a few other things?????



Help, I feel like I am losing a good friend.

I would expect that they would have to use resurface the crank & journal surfaces, but these motors are tough. I would still expect it to easy reach 400K under normal duty. The concern is that the crank oscillated enough to increase wear on other metal surfaces. Have you had a lab test on the oil done?

I think you got one of the few the bad apples of the bunch... . Don't worry, be happy! Things will get better.

What is wrong with the crank? The one wheel can be changed without removing the crank from the block.
