Hey DMV LEARN YOUR JOB

Vdub diesel P/U (concept)

I am looking to buy a new complete cummins and would also like to get the 5-speed manual. I am looking at putting it in my 1979 Chevy truck. Where can I buy these? Is there a place on the net to get them? How much should I expect to spend? Thanks

I think a new Cummins would be a very expensive option since they are all electronically controlled and you would need all the computer circuits to make it work. A better choice would be a late model 12 valve, the '96 thru early '98 with a 5 speed are all the same and the best of the breed.

I don't know if this place still has a lot of engines but it's a place to start:

There is a salvage yard in northern Wisconsin that has a

number of Dodge Trucks with Cummins being parted out.

The guy to talk to is named Paul.

He has Cummins trucks from 1989 to 2001.

They will ship COD or take credit cards.

Their phone number is

1-800-338-4002.

I am looking for a 12 valve. I do not know if they are still available new. I have found the powerstrokes new and they are a little under $7000 so I would like to find a place that sells new cummins.

How about rebuilt

We have a local company that rebuilds 5. 9 and sells for 4-5 k depending on 12 or 24 valve.

I don't know how often he likes to do it, but call Piers. A TDR member from my area who has a 92 or 93 3500 dually bought a fully reconditioned 98 12 valve engine from Piers late last year.

If you were at May Madness earlier this month, he had the truck there, and he told me the TDR admin folks were all over it with their cameras taking pictures for a possible future TDR magazine article.

I am refering to "drives mopars".
