Check out what Paul at Defiant Truck Products built for and just installed on my truck!!

I have always REALLY like Paul's two tube light bars... the way he curves them to match the front of the truck makes them look elegant, but also like they simply belong on the truck. They are also strong!!
While I DID want the additional protection of the top hoop, I actually did NOT really like the way he normally made the top hoop straight and leaning forward PAST the curved lower bars, even though he did this to add protection to the additional lights that are mounted on the middle tube.

A few months ago, I was down near his shop in Los Angeles and we collaborated together to come up with this new, custom design for the top hoop. The new top tube is ALSO curved, and is supported by a couple of uprights that keep it directly in line with the lower tubes. It maintains the lines of the truck, the lines of the light bar and also protects the grill, hood and additonal lights.

Paul is a GREAT guy to work with, an excellent fabricator, and his customer service and quality control is top notch. He also installs the light bars for free if you can come to his shop!!

I am EXTREMELY happy with tha way this looks and works on my truck, even though the lights are not wired in yet. The two outside lights are KC Daylighters in a Stainless Steel housing with Warn dual beam (fog AND driving) inserts. The middle light is a KC Daylighter SS with A long range Pencil beam.

Here are the pix. Whaddya you guys think ??

Nice! Paul installed my Shuttleworth HD Diesel muffler almost five yrs. ago now. He had a dissected stocker there. They resemble a maze inside.

Little more traffic than Elk,huh? Paul's "freeway close"! :)

How much I dont want one I need one. Do you think he will minus the top third bar? I just want the two lower.

From my experiences with Defiant, I know that Paul will do whatever you want him to and do it well !!

The single tube and two tube light bars are standard issue and less expensive then the two tube with top hoop. That being said, ALL of his products are reasonably priced and he did NOT charge any more for my custom bar then for his regular two tube with top hoop, even though I offered to pay him more.

Here is a link to his site... you can scroll through to find the light bar that you want.

Hi Dave... definitely more traffic there, but I grew up in the SF Bay Area, so traffic is no problem. . I can weave my 7000# CTD sports car in and out with the best of them. :-laf:-laf That being said, I did make a point to miss commute hours when I drove down to his place from visiting my mom in Santa Barbara.

The Lightbar install only took an hour, and afterwards he was kind enough to weld on the 5" chrome exhaust tip that I had brought down with me. It has been sitting in my shop for a year or so beacuse my welding skills are of a utility type, and I did not want ugly scars on my truck, and NONE of the exhaust guys up here are decent quality welders either, plus charge an arm and a leg for their services. As you well know, ALL of Paul's work is craftsman level quality and affordable. He skipped lunch and only charged me $20 to cut the old exhaust tip off and weld the new tip on. The 5" chrome tip does look awesome, though I wouldn't have bothered if it hadn't been free !! Thanks to DragRacer and TDRs "Pay it Forward" forum!! Oo.

Yeah,Paul's definitely a good fabricator and exhaust/muffler guy. Everytime I've been there he's got a hot rod or vintage stocker on the rack.

One time he had a Chevy Kodiac Duramax with a flatbed ready for a Big Lance or something. Paul was doing the exhaust for him.

As far as LA goes, thank God for car pool lanes as my wife or a friend are generally with me. Their car pool lanes work really well.

seafish... .

After looking at Defiants webpage i finally found one I am happy with so I will ask this of you...

How did the light bar mount?

Did you retain your factory hooks with the install?

Hammer, which light bar did you pick??

There are 2 parts to the light bar--

The bracket(s) that mount behind each oem tow hook and then the light bar itself.

It is a relatively easy install, though you do have to entirely remove the tow hooks and then reinstall them with the mounting brackets between the frame and the tow hooks. According to Paul, the hardest part of the process is removing the bolts that hold the tow hooks in place as you have to keep the nuts from turning and access to them as very tight and at a steep angle from underneath the truck. The light bar then mounts to the brackets and the functionality of the tow hooks is maintained, though they are behind the bar.

As I mentioned, in only took Paul about an hour or so to do the job, though it probably take someone closer to 4 hours doing it without prior experience and a truck lift. A second person would likely be extremely helpful!!! Though I was preapred to install it myself, I am glad that I was able to drive down and have hime do it since he is all set up for it !!
