What does the dealer do to "prep" my new 600?

Max EGTs?

I am relatively new to the diesel truck world. I have had my truck for about two or three months now. Last weekend was the first time I towed anything substantial with it. I was towing a 22' travel trailer and literally forgot it was behind me on the freeway (between rear view mirror checks that is). My last vehicle was a 94 Toyota 4x4 with the four cylinder 22re. I have been driving four cylinders for such a long time now; all of this newfound power is overwhelming. I have been totally seduced by the diesel's torque curve and will never look back.

I enjoy reading posts on this site and have learned a lot. I have posted several questions and concerns and received prompt intelligent responses.

Welcome to the world for CTD's. First thing I would do is install some gauges. EGT (pyro), transmission temp, and boost. With these gauges you will be able to see exactly what and how your engine is doing. After that watch out :p You will catch the bombing bug (better off modifed baby) and there goes all the money you thought you had. :D

Again welcome.

I have been considering gauges for some time now but have been unable to come up with a suitable mounting location. I have considered the popular A-pillar mount. but I am worried about making an already existing blind spot even worse. Winding through narrow camp ground roads is tough enough already. I love the truck but the A-pillar blind spot is annoying.

guage location

Check out Red RamRods truck pics, he built a guage holder that mounts below the cup holders in a Auto truck, he has his air guages there for the bags but you could mount any type of guage there and still be visible to the driver.

Once I get some guages this is the set up I will use.

That Rod Pod looks pretty good too. I decided on the A-Pillar though...
