A friend called me and has burned one half of a tank of the NEW lower sulfer diesel. Always uses an additive as well. Says the truck is missing and the Ck engine light has come on... . now he does have a "Power&^*(^&*&^(*(^" FORD but aren't our trucks supposed to run on this new diesel????? Isin't it only the 07 that HAVE to have it? thanks!!!

As far as the new fuel is concerned. What you would want to add is a lubrication additive. The low sulfur diesel also has other " contaminants" taken out that reduces the fuels lubricate. In the 07 and newer engines you can only use low sulfur because of the emissions equipment like the catalytic catalyst can be damaged or plugged up by a high sulfur content. As far as I know the lubricity is the only concern with us running it.

He may have gotten a bad load of fuel. We are running ULSD and have not seen any problems. Tell him to check his filter for water or junk.

The old Powerstroke will run on anything... it's not the ULSD diesel that's the problem.

It will, apparently, clean out any gunk in the tank. So, he may have plugged a filter or something.

We've been getting ULSD for some time now. I just pulled the sending unit, from the tank, on our Jetta. It is squeekie clean in there so maybe this cleansing effect is true.
