Amsoil Dual Bypass (BMK-15)

looking for Amsoil guy in VB/Norfolk area

I was @ our local Sportsman show today. and stopped by the "Hyperdiesel" booth. They had an exhaust brake of their own design on display. They claimed they had been running one on each of the following diesels for a year with no issues.

Cummins

Powerstroke

Duramax

A 5 min. once over came up with the following.

It looks to be made of cast aluminum and looks like a big ball valve, so no butterfly valve in the middle to cause any restriction. They only make one main size, 4" and it will fit anywhere in line with the exhaust. They have different size connections to hook up 3" to 4" diameter exhaust. The actuator is electric & appears to be heavy duty. The actuator is adjustable so you can adjust the amount of restriction.

Over all I was impressed & the price installed was about what Banks quoted me theirs shipped to my house & I install.

I'd say I'm glad I waited because this one looks like the best one I've seen yet, at least for my application. They don't have it on their web page yet, but you can find them @ http://www.hyperdieselpower.com/

One more thing, It's set up so you flip a switch on the dash & leave on, when you let up on the throttle it has a 2 second delay before closing. As soon as you hit the throttle it opens back up.

I find it interesting that an that a butterfly is being replaced by a ball type valve on an ebrake, the same thing has been happening on high pressure sprayer valves for a few years now. The ball type are easier to maintain, keep leak free and are cheaper to boot. Logical progression.
