I, or rather a friend, found that my exhaust manifold had a crack about 1 inch in back of where I had drilled it for my Pyro. After removal and upon closer examination, it was cracked all the way around the bottom. This is after about 100,00 miles.
I replaced it with an ATS manifold that I bought from some guy named Piers Harry, in some other country. I was woried about trusting a guy with two first names, but what the heck. I have seen these manifolds really get rusty looking, so I had it performance coated. This guy names Piers, had that little item taken care of for me.
It was quite a job for a novice, but I managed to get it changed, after several liquid refreshments. NOTE: Change that several to MANY!
I went over to Diesel Dynamics today and had Keith dyno my ugly little child and it looks like I picked up about 6 horse power due to the ATS.
I used to be 383hp and 835 torque. Now I'm running 397. 1 and 870 torque. BD has upgraded my plug n Play which has cut the smoke and given me about 42 horsrpower above my TST PM-3, which is now 355. I used to be 349hp with the TST, and now I'm 355 with the ATS.
The # 1 thing that I love is that the engine now cools down much faster at idle. The message is: I would whole heartedly recommend that the ATS manifold be installed as soon as you can justify it to your significant other. Im willing to loan out my cracked manifold to show your significant other the need for one!
