Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) New exhaust needed

Hello all,

Well my muffler and tailpipe finally fell off this morning, so I need to replace them. If I opt for OEM (dealer parts) replacement, I'm looking around $350. 00 for the pipes and muffler. However, this may be a perfect time to upgrade to a better set-up.



So, the question is, which one? This is what I'm looking for:



1. Easy installation

2. OEM, or just slightly higher, noise levels, but NOT obnoxious!!

3. Quality materials and craftsmanship

4. Fair price

Which truck has the problem? You list 2 in your signature. If it's the '97, $350 is cheap for an OEM. I had this problem a few yrs ago, my local dealers wanted over $500 to replace M & T. I figured if I'm going to spend that kind of $$$, I'd check out stainless steel, which I did, and for less $$. If it's going on the '97, watch out. The books (OEM) say they're all the same, but they're not! At the time, I found only tailpipes for '98 & newer, which has different hanging points. Someone on the TDR knows about an adapter kit or something so the newer style pipes will fit the '97 & older with no extensive modifications. Just bolt & go.

Mabye you'll get lucky like I did, When I bought my 95 about a year ago someone had cut the muffler can in half and thrown the rest away. I went to my local jobber who had CarQuest and he looked things up the first words out of his mouth were your not going to believe what this exhaust costs. Long story short after he saw he had it in inventory for almost 3 years and had never sold it I got the muffler tailpipe, hangers, clamps everything for a screaming deal of 215. 00. Moral is it pays to due some checking around. .

hows the drone on that setup. like mentioned before, call rip. he great to work with and hes always fair on price. for your rig, i htink you have to buy a hanger from a 98+ with the kit. this will get rid of that ugly one that shows on our rigs.

Thanks for all the help and info everyone. Well, I've decided to just use OEM stuff for, since it'll only cost me $385. 00 (ordered everything yesterday). Maybe one day I'll upgrade it when I start bombing the motor, which won't be for atleast a year.
