We got a 2014 Passat TDI SE today. Seems like it will be a good one. The Mazda6 was close but the clincher was the headrests in the Mazda pushed forward too far and are only adjustable up and down. I drive very upright and the rests pushed my head forward. Other than that, the 6 is also a very nice car.

I think you will enjoy the Passat. What was the service plan on the Passat from VW compared to the Mazda car? I know my wife's Jetta had three years or 30K free service; this includes oil/filter changes and such. She also gets free car washes for life of the car.

The vw plan is now two years/24,000 miles. Mazda didn't have one that I'm aware of.
