How to tell if 4:10 gears?

Should I tick the manual regen box on a new C&C?

I was playing around with my truck on Saturday and there was a new Flash for the PCM. The update was for a couple of things, one was adding a routine to test the fan clutch. I flashed it and then ran the fan clutch test three times and it failed each time saying replace the fan. I'm pretty sure there's a problem with the routine because in the 16,000 miles I've driven the truck, it has never run more than 220 (even towing to CMEP and back) and always goes right back to around 200 as soon as the fan speeds up.

Mine hasn't been above 220°, but holds 215-217° before the fan really kicks on and then won't drop much below 210° while towing. I attribute it to the EGR cooler, since the 05 didn't have that, but had a bit more timing to heat the head. It also takes a long time to get back to 190° at idle after towing.

I am also surprised how much I hear the fan, but it does seem to move a lot more air than my 05's fan.
