I just finished installing a new VP44 and FASS 150/95gph and the FASS pump doesn't run... . don't make a sound. I checked the Fuse (good), had 12 volts to the Fuse holder. I reseated all connections no joy. I can't even prime the low pressure side of the system let alone get the High Pressure side of the pump bled. I bumped the ignition and it hasn't made a sound. A lot of work and money to go through and now have to troubleshoot the fix for the stock lift pump and insurance for the Rebuilt VP44. The truck was running before this but was having "hard start" problems a little over a year after the first lift pump went. I have 207,000 mi on the original LP and VP and the truck is stock fuel system wise... ... . Any ideas?

Try running a piece of wire from the - side of the battery and hook it to the bracket / mounting plate of the fass to see if that is the problem. If that doesn't work i would say the fass is bad. Jmo.

Sounds like a ground issue.

The FASS pump sghould have come with a relocation harness and relay. Make sure you used the factory lift pump harness and that it is plugged completely into the relay harness. Also, double check the battery connections for any signs of corrosion. I have seen relays not completely plugged into the harness as well.

Lastly, the pump can be "hotwired" to confirm you have a known good ground and 12+v power. But double check everything else first. We have never had one bad out of the box in the shop. I am sure it has happened sometime somewhere, but I am an agent of doing the easy stuff first.

I will try Hot wiring the pump this evening. No corrosion on the battery terminals and as I said I reseated all connections except the relay, and it was so tight it wouldn't budge. I check for voltage at the pump connector but may not have got back to check it quick enough after bumping the starter. Easy stuff first? When is the easy stuff coming? I never expected to have this kind of problem... ... I envisioned knocking the key out of the pump shaft or not getting #6 fuel line off but the FASS pump not running was pretty demoralizing after all the work so far. Thanks for the suggestions.

I had this same problem when I got a replacement from FASS. I called Dan and he told me that something had become lodged in the pump. The fix he had me do was to cut the steel wire on the backside and thread out the bolts a few turns. Then start the pump with the turn of the key and it started working. Then tightened the bolts back up and its worked ever sense. However I would suggest calling fass and talking to Dan about this as he will put a note on your paper work that you were giving the ok to cut the steel wire.

Well... . I just finished up with the low pressure side, the pump is running and all the instrument warnings are off. I started at the relay, pins 87 and 30 had 12 volts from the battery. The ones to the relay from the factory pump connector had ~7 volts. The FASS connector had ~7 volts but only if you bumped the starter. So ... . I removed the old stock fuel filter and old lines and removed the ECM. There was some light corrosion at the nt the ECM to the Block interface so I cleaned them up and the mounting flanges of the ECM and reinstalled. All the Dash Warnings extinguished and you could hear the FASS ... ... Quietly running. The strange thing about it is I had the charger on the batteries and it was going max current (20amps), but after cleaning up the ECM it dropped to 10 amps and the batteries both indicated 12. 5 volt up from 11. 5 volts prior. Thanks for all the suggestions! I haven't posted much in the 9 years I've been a member but every time I have a problem I can usually find the answers here.
Thanks Again!
