Hello, I just bought a basically stock 93 2wd extended cab to tow the race car. I will be towing a 20ft enclosed with the bracket car weighing about 6500 total. Will the stock (except for afe proguard 7 filter) truck be able to handle this pretty well? Will I be able to take the interstate and keep up? I plan on doing some more mods in the future but for now it will have to be stock. thanks

I towed my Jeep on a flatbed trailer (about 6000 pounds combined) with only a BHAF and 16cm housing and it did pretty well. I normally don't drive over 65 MPH when towing, and the truck would easily maintain that speed except when climbing moderate to steep grades.



I did some minor pump tweaks (1. 5 turns fuel screw, backed the smoke screw all the way out... can't remember where the starwheel is compared to stock) and it made a huge difference, but then I ran into EGT problems when pulling hills. The 4" exhaust took care of that. The pump tweaks cost nothing, but I wouldn't do it without first having gauges.



If you have an automatic transmission, make sure you have adequate cooling. I basically duplicated the factory "super duty" cooler using an aftermarket unit, and I have no issues with transmission temps. Swapping in an aftermarket torque converter will also make a big difference, allowing more of the available power to reach the ground.

Thanks dan, I guess I will wait for the exhaust before I start playing with the fuel. I am really interested in seeing how it pulls the way it is now so I have a starting point. As for the transmission my truck has the super cooler option and the transmission still feels good. I plan on a new convertor but I think Ill wait until the transmission needs a rebuild. Just curious where did you get your 4 inch exhaust? Does it have a 4 inch downpipe? Thanks again

I had the exhaust installed locally. Any reputable shop should be able to order the parts - my system came pre-cut and bent, and just had to be installed. By the time I purchased the parts myself, paid for shipping and fabbed hangers, it was about the same price I paid the shop to do it... and saved me the hassle of rolling around on a creeper for a few hours.



The downpipe is 3", and it bumps to 4" from there back.

I have 2 92 250's 1 2wd , 1 4wd. I tow a gooseneck flatbed trailer to haul excavating equipment. Total weight of the trailer and machine usually weighs in arround 12-14K. Both trucks are stock except for air filter and exhaust. I never have any issues with perfromance in either city or highway driving.
