Engine life. Bombed vs not?

Had to one up the competition you know. It can tow 17k but only if its a 5th wheel. Or some kind of goose neck set up. I didnt really understand that part. Otherwise its rated at 15k. They also dumped the wagon technology. They are now coil sprung. I bet the companies that use them offroad are gonna love em for that. Better ride but more maintanence.

How do they figure bossting the torque by a whopping 10 ft/lbs, to 570, is gonna keep Ford ahead of the pack. By my calculations that puts them right at the rear of the pack.

Jeff

Because that 10 extra lb ft is gonn get them a couple more ponies. If they can hold just 10 extra lb ft on top they will be able to get 330hp.

Few people look at max torque. They look at peak hp. It is difficult for the cummins to up the hp because it needs so much torque to match the hp. Due to governed speeds and the mass of the inline engine. Torque kills. If daimler keeps upping it they will be in a losing battle. They are gonna break too much stuff. The only way to win is to shorten the stroke and go to lighter components. I wouldnt want that. Any true diesel fan will know its torque(translated to low rpm hp) that gets the load moving and keeps it there.

Notice no one is having a pull off with the big three right now. HMM. Daimler needs to ponie up and buy magazine articles like ford does. LOL.

I guess I shoulda read the article. It still has 325hp. A lot on class leading stuff thats behind the competitors. Like 23500 gcwr.

What class are they leading? Im lost. They do have the most payload. I think.

OHH well you didnt tell me it was the most durable. I guess Im headed down to cal worthingtons tomorrow. Bettter hurry before they use the box frame and coils.

The 2005 Ford Super Duty truck can carry a maximum payload of 5,800 pounds and boasts a towing capacity of 17,000 pounds.

I am confused?? according to my owners manuel my 96 can toe 18k pounds. Maybe I read somthing wrong, but Ford is boasting about somthing that my truck has been able to for 8 years. Sounds backwards to me. .
