Read the other day where Ford was desperately trying to reduce the manufacturing cost of the next generation F-150 by $700 per truck. The F-150 represents almost a quarter of Ford's business if I remember correctly. Design was apparently fairly complex and designed in a time of prosperity for the company and they need to save some money now that times are tougher. If times are that tough, it would be hard to see Ford buying anything, let alone a diesel engine manufacturer when they have a ready supply of engines from Navistar. Makes one wonder when they will start pedding some of the stuff they bought a few years ago.
