Checked for Off-Road Diesel Today

I have a friend that recently purchased a new F250 6. 0L & 5sp auto. In the first 750 miles he has had to replace the transmission and the engine will at times shake horribly. Any one hear of any similar experiences with the new Dodges?

Not unless Ford is getting their torque converter anti drain back check valves from the same vendor. Mine has been replaced under the recall and all is well. Mine even starts at 35*F and runs smooth and quiet. I feel bad for those guys. Their lack of knowledge has lead them astray. In their minds V8 means big and powerful while I-6 means small and gutless. Little do they know until it's $40k too late. :D

RGardner, if you go to www.thedieselstop.com you can read about some of the problems people are having with the 6. 0 PSD. That is the Ford diesel website. There have been quite a few others with the shaking issue as well as leaks from block casting porosity, injector issues (which now have been resolved, supposedly) and even a broken rocker arm.

this is the (6. 0)motor sounds like poop. :-laf clicketyclackclicketyclack.

anyone else agree? or do you like the sound of the new powerpoop.

I am a Colorado State Trooper and I stopped to assist a 2003 F350 6. 0 PSD a few days ago on I25 just north of Castle Rock. He was towing a huge horse trailer and lost all power going up the hill southbound. He said he thought he lost the turbo. He only had 1300 miles. I politely informed him of my love of the Dodge Ram and he pretty much begged me not to tease him. I think it is really sad to see someone who spent so much $$$ on a truck have problems like that. But, I couldn't believe how quiet it was at idle.

6.0 Powerjoke

"But, I couldn't believe how quiet it was at idle. "

That's because it had stalled and wouldn't restart!!:-laf

quite at idle? the new ford is not quite at all IMHO maybe on the interstate is sounds quite but nothing compared to the dodge or chevy.

Quiet?

I haven't seen or heard a new one for that matter, but for a new engine that is breaking rockers at 1400 miles and loosing injectors after one hard pull, they seem to have some serious engineering deficiencies. I for one, don't care for the new "quiet" motors and luckily my '99 is one of the loudest and everyone at work agrees. :D Oo.

I had three loud Cummins Rams. My '03 is a welcome reprieve. It's as quiet as a Isuzumax but has a heavier sound to it. And the stock exhaust note lets alittle turbo whistle through to compliment it's mellow throaty sound! It's quiet but definitely not wimpy sounding. Drive one and put your foot in it. I think you'll like it. :D

I don't know if your going to the RMTDR gathering on Saturday, but if your not and your on duty please don't stop me when I drive by you at blistering speeds. Oh and by the way I'll be in a 97 white Dodge dually 4x4 Ext Cab. :D :D. You got to be nice to your fellow TDR members:D

They ARE stealthy. It is due to the aeordymamic shape and the special paint they use in Mexico. To try it out, just find yourself a state trooper parked along side the road and drive by him at 30 or 40 mph over the speed limit. You won't even register on his equipment. Police departments have been working feverishly trying to come up with radar advances to combat this new technology Dodge but so far, an answer has evaded them.

Needless to say, don't drive with your hood open. Those radar waves bounce off that Cummins block like a beacon. Just like they do off the new Ford. :D :D :D

Well, I'm sure the Ford PSD drivers won't be getting any tickets either. While standing at 0 miles per hour waiting for a tow, there's no way they can be exceeding the speed limit!

Went to the Foxxd web site. WOW!Maybe ok to buy one in 12 to 24 months but the oil leaks, romp romp and cold stalling and intermittant no power etc. D. C may not have a 5 speed auto in a diesel but that dosent compare to the problems i've been reading about the OTHER product. How to you find the maxipad site?:--)

I did go to the RMTDR event. That was awesome. Anyways. That must have been a blast of wind past me, 'cause it couldn't be a PSD and I didn't "see" any dodge rams (Cummins powered that is).

Personally, I love how my baby sounds (4" exhaust, huge air filter). The 2003's sound cool, but too quiet (there is one that lives in the same appartment complex as me). The new PSD's are too quiet. I feel bad for people who spend that much $$$ on a truck just to have problems like the new PSD owners. At least I am out there to give them a ride when theirs dies. :D LOL.
