HAPPY NEW YEAR! We thought it was time for a facelift on the forums. We've tested it over the last few days and I think I have all the bugs worked out. If you preferred the old look of the forums without the borders you can opt for that look. Go to "User Control Panel" then "User Options" then at the bottom change the "Style Set" to "No Borders". I hope you enjoy the new look!

I hate changes!

First thing I did was to get rid of the borders. Now, if you can just get rid of the red header boxes with the black lettering it would be better for some of us. I can't read the black, the red over powers it.

Probably just my old eyes!:(

AThompson - the scrolling banner at the top should slide to the left and then stop and not loop, is it not doing that for you? If not then what browser are you running so I can check it out.

Paccool - the headers were like that on the old site too, I didn't change any of the text or background colors. Yours is the first complaint I've ever heard on that.

I'll be looking into why the No Borders option isn't working on the other pages tomorrow. Not sure why it isn't working there because the codes are the same as on the main forum page!?

The avatars will not be coming back. They were a huge bandwidth hog (like 30% of the bandwidth the site was using) and slowed down the site loading for dial up users. One of the concerns voiced by several people when they were testing the new site was that it not slow down - which turning avatars back on would do by a lot.

The "No borders" option should be fixed now. There was an option on the forum settings that was set on some of the forums back when they were first set up (by the last webmaster) that overrode the user settings. I didn't even know that option was there. If anyone has a problem with it please let me know.

Mozilla 1. 1. I hate the unsolicited popup windows. While this site doesn't use them, many others do (like msn.com).

I tried it out with my IE 5. 5 and it worked as you described.

I also noticed that the main forum page looks much different on my desktop than it does on my laptop. My laptop is set at 1024x768 regular fonts and displays fine. My desktop is 1280x1024 with large fonts and I get a scroll bar on the bottom of the window. Both of these are with Mozilla. Again the IE 5. 5 seems to work fine.

Steve,

Good job on the forum changes.

Question, is it possible for the user to change the color of the border? If not, no big deal. That color is a little too close to pink for me.

Steve, was there an individual who came up with this facelift? You know, when you guys were asking for ideas for the change?

I like the change and the spinning turbo blades are too cool! Now if Kev's wife can get that on his business cards, I'll have to order some then!:D

My first post. Haven't had a reason before, (you learn more by listening than talking). I like the new look. Keep up the good work. Have really learned alot from the TDR. Love the Cummins.

We didn't get a single entry in the facelift contest which really surprised us. I came up with the design and the logo, I'm not very artistic but I'm working on it and doing my best. I had to edit 45 different templates to implement it along with making up the buttons, logo, etc. It's been a LONG 4 days to get here!! Thanks for the compliments! :D

Individuals can't change the colors, I can change them easily now that I've implemented the change. In order for it to have the 3d effect the upper and left borders need to be a lighter color than the lower and right borders. This color combo is what seemed to look the best to me.
