New Forum Needed



One Thing I have noticed lately would be a boatload of posts pertaining to the issue of the forum in Itself. Questions about the username..... Ideas..... concerns... . the works, just scattered about the site making it look like a parade route after the new year Ok, Ok, not That bad but you know. So here it is... How about a Forum included in this directory that could be titled "TDR Website Ideas And Concerns" (Not too brilliant but a brighter light indeed)



As for guys looking for a pretty comon answer TRY searching for an answer First, Repettitive topics clutter up the site and after talking to a few members a quote that comes to mind "Hey I am Glad to help out a member and will reply to a thread ... ... But C'Mon do I have to keep my replys Saved and just Copy and Paste~Em?" just some idle tdr banter that stretched out in convo the other night. So that leads me to the next idea... A "Top Ten Posting Pool" (Like the TDR admin needs this task) Somehow monitor Topics each month and "Pool" The Most "frequently asked" in one Comon area. Now I know there is a FAQ area but it seems it is too out of the way for some people to look into. If there is a "Semi~Active" Posting area Pertaining to the needs of the FAQ'rs that may eleiviate some of the frustration for Both the Asker+Askee and the Info will be Up to Date.

I had the announcement "READ THIS PLEASE" in big bold letters at the top of each forum section. Robert put a notice in the last TDR stating reactivation would be required. There's a reactivation notice on the top of the main page. Friday and Saturday, the ONLY page on the site said reactivation would be required.



After all those notices, I still received a couple hundred "why can't I post?" emails and I'm still getting them.



The current "TDR Website/Roundtable" forum has the description:

"Post your questions, concerns, hints, and suggestions for the TDR Website and TDRoundtable. "



Based on experience, especially this past week, we could make the heading light up, spin and play music and the people who post in the wrong forum will continue to do so. At this point, there have been plenty of changes to the site without introducing more.

Retitling Roundtable Forum

This may be a good idea. Input from the moderators? A simple forum name chage would be easy to make. Better than than a new forum. That could be a forum that TDRAdmin could moderate since we're the ones who can make "simple" changes.

Spinning, Play music, God I like it Ya know now that I think of it The "top" thred of each forum is there BUT why on God's Green Earth does it not have any impact (I. E) The return of Hundreds of E~mail. Oh well enough muttering on my end I kinda wanted to throw that one out at you guys.



What about the top ten thing?



Oh well just tryin' to keep all of you guys away from Long hours ,Prozac , And Riddlin.

I agree on the redundant posts asking the same question, gets old real quick. I have no problem answering new questions, or at least trying to answer them, especially from new members, but when someone asks that same question that another member posted and received replies, and that post is only several lines down from the new post, give me a break. If your new here, PLEASE, take the time and use the search source FIRST. If you can't find what your looking for, then ask away. Here's a prime example of what I'm talking about, please don't take offense if you were one of those that posted, I'm just trying to show the regular repeat questions that have already been answered. Compare the two topics, posted within one day of each other. Here's the first post, seemed like a reasonable question as their are always new tool boxes coming on the market... .

Am I missing something here ? Again, not looking to flame ANYONE, just proving my point. Read first, ask questions later. The TDR is an incredible source of knowledge and ALOT of the questions you have may have been already hashed out. Try it, you'll like it and so will the rest of us.

Sorry to hear about mini-me, tell Ricky C. to look where he's going. I'll shoot you an email tonight, when I get home from work. My mini-me 2 is on the bench patiently awaiting some white paint (came as red) and should be up and running real soon. UNH-HUHhhhh... Then why is MY question in that forum concerning the loss of ability to "jump forums" STILL unanswered in that forum - maybe 'cuz administrators spend too much time in splinter threads/forums to MONITOR and respond to questions that ARE placed in the "right" forum?

How about a forum for Cummins-powered vehicles, OTHER than the Ram? For motorhomes, construction equipment, and heavy trucks. Or a Cummins conversion forum?

How about a forum for POLLS only? Have the poll feature disabled in all the other forums, and have it active in a poll-only forum. Seems there's a lot of polls going on, and are crowding the forums a little bit.

The GENERAL diesel forum would be the place for the first and as for the "Polls only" Cool Idea But now it seems that we have inadvertantly swamped ADMIN with alot of Q+A+ideas. Who knows Cryes of the unheard?? Or we just may have something here.
