The new forum will take some getting used to.

The flashing purple opening seems like a bad flashback to thje sixty's. You had to be there to understand.

But the 60's were great times. From what I remenber.

Could this flashing purple be a new neon light advertiser?

Flashing purple? There shouldn't be any flashing purple. The background of the test notice is purple but that is there just for the test page. I did that so that hopefully noone misses it and makes posts that they will be mad when they are deleted - which has happened EVERY time I've done a test page like this.

I like it! I really like the advanced options, especially the "Display Modes". The darker red is a bit less appealing than the lighter red on the main site, and I'm not fond of the angular borders and brackets around each post. Minor things though, the advanced options look really good. This is not to say though that the current site is lacking in any way because I do think the current site is also quite good and very usable. `nuff said

Down towards the bottom of any of the screens there is a pull down menu on the left for different styles. Select the first style on that list "TDR Roundtable vB3 Style" - it's a red very close to what we have now. The feedback on the other thread was overwhelmingly that the users hated it. Only 1 or 2 people said they liked it or it was ok - a BUNCH said they hated it. There are a bunch of other color options in there right now too. We'll be narrowing it down to 3 choices or so before it goes live.

Steve,

Your effort on the new software is awesome. I am really happy with the new forum! Colors are great, drop down menus are great, no complaints at all. Thank you for all your work and time, I hope everyone appreciates what you have done!

The new forum does seem to have many advantages. I guess I'm just getting old because it took a lot of getting used to. I do like the fact that it seems less cluttered though.

Good job

Steve, unless there is some over driving need to restrict it to only 3 color choices, why not leave in six choices as you have now? I can't see that it would be detrimental to the operation of the application.

Color is subjective to the viewer. You have to remember that nearly 1/3rd of the male population is color blind and it is very difficult to fine tune things for that crowd.

I happen to be pastel color blind, so I knoweth of which I speaketh.

Why not just choose the standard DODGE colors and let the user pick.

There is an over driving need. We are also working on a graphics redesign right now. It was in the works before the forum upgrade took precedence. We want the site to be consistent across the entire site and with the graphics. More colors makes that more complicated. We already have graphics developed that we're going to use for it and part of the color decision rests on being able to work it in with the developed designs. More will be revealed later when I recover from getting this off the ground.

I tried changing fonts and colors on my text and it wouldn't do it, unless I was doing something wrong. I know it can be done because some of the other test posts had different sized text, etc. So far, I like the changes though.
