Here is a link to the pre-release press information for the 4500/5500 truck introductions. Keep checking in. Later tonight, Steve St. Laurent will be posting information from interviews with Scott Kunselman, Chief Engineer for Ram Trucks, and Joe Veltri, Director of Body on Frame Marketing that were conducted today at the Chicago Auto Show. Additionally, he will be posting video footage of the pre-introduction and other general information.

Where's FATCAT? I thought he would be all over this!

I'm here. I saw this last night and am very excited ... the 5500 4-door 4X4 with 84" would be the machine I would want. Though there should be a 7 or 9 speed manual option along with at least a Dodge option to "turn up" the 6. 7L like you can do with a Cat -or- an ISC option.

Only thing is it will be a bit tougher to get the $$$$ for the truck since my divorce last year. Divorces put a "crmip" in one's disposable income.

GM 4500 & 5500s are detuned also, aren't they? There might be some shortcomings, but I'm really glad they're finally addressing this market segment & are giving people that don't want to ride around in a GM 4/5500 when they aren't working a viable option, other than a v8 Ford

Are manufacturer GCVWR even relevant regarding registration/DOT?

btw most 6-wheel dump trucks only have around 300 hp... . I'd much rather have extra gears in this truck segment than another 50 hp from the factory. At least they come with a turbo/exhaust brake :)
