OK. Im about to pull the trigger and buy a used 2012 Ram 3500.

So, what year was the new frame introduced (2013?) and how is it better, than the previous frame?

My former truck (below) had a nice smooth ride, except off road. So, since I rarely tow anymore, Iam considering buying a 2500 and adding air bags in the rear to make up for missing leaf support when towing heavy. My main concern is with the newer rear springs (not leafs) on the 2500s will I be losing some towing stability (right/left) when the trailer starts swaying? My 3500 LB SRW was exceptional at stopping trailer sway.

When did the rear springs on 2500s start?

Getting old and looking for a smoother ride. Heck at 68 Iam slowing down some, finally, and just wanna enjoy the ride.

Rear coil's on the 2500's started 2014. Along with new frame for both 2500 & 3500.

After reading about all the DPF problems 2007.5 to 2012s had, Im definitely not buying those years. 2013+ is my goal now.
Thanks for your input guys. :)

DEF trucks are the way to go if you keep your pickup stock.

I've not done much heavy towing yet but I'm impressed with how well my 2014 2500 rides both on- and off-highway with 'appropriate' psi in the tires, AND how well it handles a load... the load has been a 2000 pound slide-in camper. I expected to need some type of aux. springs, but that has not been the case.

However, due to the nature of coil and leaf springs my guess is that the leaf springs will control/prevent side-to-side body roll better.

I have never had a single issue with mine. Not even a message in the evic. Tie rod recall is another story.
