ARB, the makers of the Air Locker, now have a front bumper for the Ram!! I used to have a Jeep Grand Cherokee with one of their bumpers, and it was very, very nice. From the pictures, the one for the Ram looks great, with recessed holes for fogs and a spot for other lights. Check it out:

Now if I can only find a retailer and a price... ... . :D

Any idea of the weight & how it mounts? I really like the looks of the Reunels but am pretty disappointed by weight and attacment method.

I found this link for you guys.

4X4 connection

This might help answer some of your questions.

I have to say it looks very similiar to this bumper TJM ,

but it's probably because they are both from Down Under.

I have the TJM and love it. The way it is built is quaility and very tough. DOR uses one piece of aluminum for its front face and TJM uses two chanel shaped pieces that bolt together that makes it very strong. The bad points to the TJM, that I ran across, is price; andI had to modify two brackets that hold it on because they would not fit flush against the front crossmember of the frame; and they are rated for up to 9000 pound winch.

I had some spare change lying around so that took care of the price. I had a machine shop redo the brackets for $20 dollars. I have a Warn 8000lbs winch that has pulled me out over 10 times and twice with me frame deep in mud and pulling a 32 ft TT.

Without the winch and winch plate, the unit is very light. The winch weights as much as the bumper and the plate the winch sits on weights as much as the winch plus some.

Best part there isn't many around so my truck stands out:p

Scott,

It figures you'd be first to the board with this news;)

BTW, I got my truck and am loving it!

Excellent! I need to get a wheeling rig again, I miss the trails. Oh well, maybe someday. I want a bigger boat first! :D

As for the ARB, I don't know how it will attach. But, according to Four Wheeler Magazine (which has a small blurb about it) the Ram and Ford versions will accommodate the Warn 15,000 lb winch! So, the mounting must be SERIOUS. I think all ARB bumpers are made of steel, but the one for Grand Cherokee wasn't overly heavy, probably 75 to 80 lbs without the winch.

Ouch! That price is a little steep. One reason is the 4x4 Connection is in VA, ARB's import warehouse is located in Seattle. So, the price for the bumper from 4x4 Connection includes the freight to get it to VA, and then if I order it from them, I pay another $165 to ship it back! If I decide to buy one, I'll try to work a deal where I buy it from somebody, but pick it up directly from ARB, as they are very close to home. That should keep the costs down (no shipping to the vendor, and no shipping charges to get it to me. )

That's a beautiful bumper! I want one!!! Screw the Sport bumper...

Maybe if we can get enough interested people, a group purchase could be arranged.

I have the broshure

I saw the ARB bumper on their website( www.arbusa.com ) about a month ago and had them send me some literature on it. I don't quite remember how the mounting was shown but I'm pretty sure it ahd 2 large steel mounting brackets that botled to the frame cross member and to the frame of the truck. I'm at work right now but will check out the broshure when I get home and then get back to you guys. I think the bumper is pretty cool but don't know how it would look on my Intense Blue truck, I just might have to find out though. :)

Rob, the ARB bumper appears to fit SLTs and Sports through '98. 5 (note bumper relation to grille). I would venture to guess if you want it to fit '99+ Sports you would have to change grilles to the "flat style" chrome SLT grille (as you know, they didn't make a Bright Silver Sport grille before the '01 model year).

Ute Manufacturing bumper!

Getting off the subject just a hair... . any of you NW guys heard of a place called Ute Manufacturing in Seattle? They make aluminum Ute-style beds for trucks and are also starting to make bumpers. I saw the one they make for a Super Duty in person-that thing is almost too nice to mount on a truck! 3/8" aluminum all the way through-but I believe the mounts were steel. It had provisions for winch mounting too-but I never asked how big of a winch. I was just so taken with how it looked. Really beautiful work... .

They haven't started up on a Ram one yet-supposedly in the next couple of months. I wasn't smart enough to grab any contact info off the brochure I saw-and I'm pretty sure the place that sells them in Calgary isn't gonna hand over their contact info willingly. So if any of you guys have heard of them and know a phone # etc. -drop me a PM or email or whatever so I can bug them to get the Ram one going-----and make one to fit the Sport trucks!
