I have a 2004 with the 305 engine. I want to install a new pressure fuel pump in down by the fuel tank. Where do you guys get the fitting to replace the old lift pump? I have been reading the forum but have not seen where you canget the parts to install a new pump and take to old lift pump off.

If your oem pump is still working I would just leave it there and install a pusher pump down by the tank. This allows both pumps to work and makes it easier on each pump, they should and in most cases have lasted longer. Go to www.summitracing.com and look up their 4601 carter pump, they also have on the same page a relay that can be tapped into the oem pump so the pusher pump runs off the battery and not the oem pump wire.

The fitting you are talking about is to adapt a fuel line to the filter housing, correct. That part is available through many sources, including Dodge. Deisel Dynamics I beleive was the first to machine up a piece to be sold over the counter.

summit does not list a carter 4601?

Msalvator. Do a search for carter fuel pumps. They have the carter P4600HP which is about 7 psi, and the P4601hp wich is about 14 psi. I used the P4600HP on my '01 as a pusher pump, left the stock lift pump in place. The fuel psi guage always stayed at 15 or more psi. I used a oil pressure switch on top of the oil filter housing to activate the solenoid to the pump as well as a led in the dash. That way the truck would start easy ('01 VP44), and wouldn't run when I had the key on and not running. Easy setup.
