i have one of the 06 g56s that comes out of gear in reverse, on got stuck in reverse several times when brand new, less than 100 miles. i now have 9000 miles on truck and am waiting for my buisiness to slow down for the winter before i get it repaired. dealer said they would order new transmission and just replace it. here is the question

should i ask for the newest g56 that they are using in the 6. 7 with the taller gears. that would help my 2300 rpm at 70 mph problem. does anybody know if it is the same except for the different gear ratios. what are the new numbers, i think i remember that 6th is a little higher.

thanks for any input

Did this really happen? If so, someone please post the ratios so that I can add them to my gear ratio Excel worksheet.

Does the trans actually get stuck (locked) into reverse gear or is it just difficult to get the shifter out of reverse? I have to apply considerable pressure to get mine out of reverse and was wondering if that is normal. Has been that way since new.

i believe only sixth has changed, . 74 instead of . 79, '07's with 5. 9 will still have the . 79 from what i've found. i was hoping that it had changed for the entire '07 model year. i'm planning on ordering an '07 5. 9 tomorrow after taking my elk in to be processed with G56 QC LWB SRW 3500 SLT 4X4 Big Horn Ed. Electric Blue :) before it's to late. i'm gonna update to 33's right away to help get the rpm's down, but i'm afraid it wont be enough!!! i've never owned a vehicle with a manual yet so i want to try it out before updating to six spd auto in a couple years. great rpm chart klenger!!!

I was playing with the dodge site last night, and it let me pick a 4:10 with the 6 speed, but we all know that the Dodge site is not the "last word"

I personally don't have a problem with the . 79. The speed limit is only 55 around my house. @55 I am getting 20mpg. And it tows great with the 3:73's!

TOWPRO If you go back and check the dodge site you'll find that when you picked the 4. 10 gear it changed your trans choice to the 48re auto.
