I just installed a new set of auto meter c-2 gauges on the pillar and they are very bright at night, any fixes for this?

dimmer...or black out the bulb with a sharpie..so it is not so bright...a thick line across the bulb should dim it down..

You should be able to get instructions on how to wire the gauge lights into the trucks dash dimmer switch.
DieselManor.com has ALOT of gauge insatll pdf's available on their website.

they are wired into the dimmer switch but when I dim the dash lights down to where the gauges are tolerable the dash lights are way dim. is there a way just to dim the gauges themselves easily?

That is why you wire in a separate dimmer with those gauges

Put a variable resistor in series with the gauge backlight circuit. Dim the dash lights to where you want them. Then dim the gauges to match. After that, the gauges should follow the dash lights well enough.
