I finally completed installation of my SPA gauges.

Last weekend I installed the boost, water temperature and fuel pressure sending units.

This weekend I installed the EGT thermocouple and the gauges themselves. I elected to remove the turbocharger to drill and tap the manifold and I'm glad I did. The gaskets cost me less than $2 and the total time to remove and replace it was well under an hour. I know that the odds of a chip causing probems is remote, but the cost of a new turbocharge more than makes up for the little bit of extra time.

It actually took more time, and was more trouble to get all of the wires pulled up through to the A-pillar.

Thanks to everyone for your input you provided before I started this project.

Evan... they certainly are high-tech, but it is interesting that you used a smiley face with "shades" on! Is that you, or is it John? LOL.

ROCKYMNT,
I just installed gauges two weeks ago. Fishing the wires and boost tube were the most time consuming part of the job. Not hard at all though. No drilling is required. Just pop the a-pillar off and open the fuse door on the side of the dash. You'll see it with the drivers side door open. It's very easy to fish your wires thru at this point. it's pretty self expainitory(sp?) I did use a tip that I read from Bill Flemming "illflem". I used some clear urethane tubing to act like a conduit to run the wires and boost tubing thru. This also serves to protect your wires from sharp metal down around the parking brake. I used two 1/2" pieces from below the dash up thru the fuse panel to above the dash and one from the fuse panel area down past the parking brake. Since I don't have my fuel pressure gauge yet, I left a piece of mason's twine in one of the tubes to pull the wires thru for the fuel pres. gauge when it comes in.
Say this 10 times before you start. "I will check all grounds. I will check all grounds". If your installing boost, transmission temp. , EGT, and fuel pres. , it's a lot of wires to keep track of. So if something doesn't work right away, that's probably what it is.
It's very satifying to get the job done and everything is working properly.
Good luck,
Tom

Myself and Hiperf360 installed gauges in my truck last week. What we did was pull the weatherstripping away and put the wires and tubing behind that. Then reinstall the weatherstripting and there is no evidence of wires or tubing at all.

BTW I used the autometer carbon fibre gauges and they look sweet!!! They cost a little more but they are killer.

RamBoat, When you fished the wires up through the A pillar how did you do it ? I am getting ready to do mine . Did you drill a hole through the A pillar where the gauges are located? Anybody that has an idea chime in, I am interested in all ideas !! #ad
