Seems like a great source of info.

I'm looking at a 2000 2500 CTD 6sp. Other than thoroughly checking out the ball joints, is there anything specific that I should be looking for? Although this will be my first TD pickup, I've been driving 18 wheelers for 5 years, and I used to work in a Dodge dealership.

I see hardly anyone with any Banks equipment on their rides... why is that?

Welcome aboard, BigEasy. Most folks with Banks stuff keep pretty quiet on here. There have been some problems. Do a search on Banks & see what you come up with.

Welcome, is it an HO i think they had some non HOs with 6 speeds in 2000. Sticks are cheaper to bomb and easer to use with Exhaust brakes kind of wish i bought a stick some times  Id do a car fax and look for mods.

There were no HO's in 2000. There WERE some 6speeds, but not high output. Gauges first; EGT, boost and fuel pressure are common for manual trans. My opinion on Banks is more about price per HP-- they make great products, but the more common pieces used by members here **SEEM** to get the job done equally well or better for less $$

Check the basics and see that it is in good shape. See what oil filter is on the truck (hopefully not a FRAM). Check the lift pump pressure if you can. How many miles are on it? May need front end work soon if its well over 100K. Check the trac bar also.

Thanks for the info guys. It only has 50k miles on it. Looks like my grandfather owned it... it's spotless.

I'm not planning on getting too insane with this truck for a while; but I guess no-one every really plans on going insane :-laf . Gotta use it for primary transportation for a couple years. Maybe a pulling truck after that, I have a lotta diesel knowledge to gain before that though.

Wow, that's low mileage. sounds like a really nice truck. It should be really tight at only 50K. Again, I would just check the fuel pressure. If its low, get the seller to knock some $$ off the price for the injection pump you may need.
