Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) New guy question

Greetings



I,ve been lurking for a while and have a question about that "killer dowel" pin, as I am about ready to set off down the coast to tow a car back home, I am wondering what are the "odds"? ... I plan to have someone check it out as soon as I find a good Cummins guy but is there any estimate as to the percentage of engines that have a problem? I just purchased the truck from a friend that had taken very good care of it.

The odds of something happening are pretty slim. BUT if something does happen it's pretty $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ BAD $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I just did mine. Took about 4 hours taking my time. Mine was out about 1/8".
