Bought my first Cummins ever July 18th this year--2000 3500 4x4 Auto SLT+. Use it to tow my race car and coming back from Norwalk Ohio in September we were traveling south on I-77 and came to a 6% grade hill abotu 2 miles long, I had the cruise set and I am towing a 24' Haulmark box trailor with a '64 Plymouth Fury total wieght around 15,000# and a freind of mine has a '95 Dodge 1500 4x4 360 towing a '71 RoadRunner on open trailor tried to pass me and a 2000 Powerstroke (behind me) and melted #8 piston in the process--Powerstroke blew off a fuel line--but niether could pass. I am very happey with the Dually.

Great site. Looking forward to having a great time here.

My Chevrolet loving buddy was so fun to watch when we towed my 5000 pound cuddy cabin up a six percent six mile grade in cruise control at sixty seven MPH. I never touched the throttle, the speedo never moved, and he kept looking incredulously at the speedo and my right foot resting on the floor. It really blew his mind when we came back, same hill but seven percent grade on the return trip, same speed , no foot help, no slowdown. I'm currently completely stock except for the Amsoil airfilter. Fantastic trucks!

Going up deer hunting towing my trailer and my brother in his 97 1/2 ton 360 Auto behind. I came up on an older power stroke and a 1 ton dually chev both pulling smaller trailers than mine. We are on a two lane road that gradually climb from 6000 feet to over 9000 feet. There are short passing lanes about every 1/2 mile up this road. I'm running in 4th at about 40-45 MPH and go to pass the chev first just as I get along side the guy punches it and I just ease into the throttle and I'm by him then there the po**r **roke all the sudden he's blowing all sorts of smoke and again just with a little more throttle I'm by him. As I'm pulling away my brother calls me on the CB and is asking about the road ahead he's have problems getting by them running empty.

Man I LUV this Cummins power. #ad

Regarding the burn out on cylinder 8. Isn't that the cylinder that has the cackle problem on PSDs?

drawson, you big bully. With your mods you need to add at least another 4K to your load to make it fair. #ad

Sorry, correct topic, wrong year truck, but had to speak up.

Towing an 18' gooseneck delivering two horses to a friend taking them hunting, he is a chevy lover, and sitting right next to me. Probably 7K lbs or so, the horses are only 3. We start rolling uphill, out of Monument CO, heading east. 7000', only gaining 500' from there, but doing it pretty quick up highway 105.

We hit the first hill in 4th, and don't slow down at all. "Man, this thing is doing OK". We hit the next one, steeper, holding 55. "Man, this thing pulls pretty good. " So I floor it, go right on through 60, catch 5th just as I top the hill, and get up past 65 before backing off.

Just like the previous reply, big old eyes and disbelief. I got a run at the rest of them (east of Hwy83 now for those in CO) in 5th and held that gear for a few more rolls just to underscore the point.

1992 2wd with pump tweaks and a 16cm2 turbo housing.

later, smile, jon.
