Hey guys.
I recently inherited a 98. 5 Dodge CUMMINS 3500 5-Speed. (No Gauges)
The Odometer says the truck has about 72K miles, but the Rear Wheel Speed Sensor went bad, and the truck probably actually has very close to 100K.
I have been lurking for the past couple of weeks and have not seen this problem described.
This is my Problem, I was driving down a short strip of highway, doing about 50 MPH (a. k. a. The Speed Limit
#ad
) when all of a sudden the "CHECK ENGINE" light comes on, and the go pedal has no effect on engine RPM, so I pushed in the clutch, and the engine idled down, to a smooth calm Idle, so there I was, coasting down the highway, I decided to pump the accelerator a few times, and then, Like Magic, the pedal started to work again. All this time the engine ran very smoothly, and had no loss of power (beside the time when the pedal didn't work). This happened several times to me until I could pull-over. I pulled over at a safe spot, and shut the engine off, opened the hood, and saw nothing out of the ordinary, but I did notice that when I hit the ignition, the "lift pump" didn't sound nearly as smooth as it had sounded a few days ago. It seemed to have a slight grinding/rattling noise. Well I took the truck in to my Local Chevy/Dodge/Nissan/Toyota dealer and I am waiting to hear what their computers have to say about the problem. (As of now the truck is in the shop, for warantee, fuel pump replacement.
(EDIT>What do yall think of this problem?
ANy comments on what might be the real problem?
Anybody here experaince something like this. ?
