Hi, I need a head gasket on my dads 99. The mechanic has the motor pulled out to get to the crack on the block, turns out it wasnt much at all, but the head gasket is leaking really bad towards the 6th cylinder. Where is a good place to get one? I was thinking Napa? Truck is stock, probably gonna put my old superchips programmer on it and relocate the l/p since he's gonna keep it a while longer now. Cool thing about having the motor out is getting the oil leak fixed on it, it was leaking oil something fierce, now its easy to access. Anyways, thought somebody would know the best place to get a new gasket, thanks

I think the cummins web site has a lists of service stations & parts counter... the closest one to me is hatboro PA, 55 miles away. Mostly for the big rigs, service may run to midnight, parts may be open to 10pm.

Last year I called the local Freightliner dealer to order my last carter lift pump. They sent me through to a Cummins dealer in Harrisburg, PA. , the closest one to my residence, and honestly, I was not too happy with the results. The guy was nice and all and the pump came in fast, but they charged my card twice for the pump and said it would be taken off in two weeks or something, which it did, but said it was customary to overcharge it or some bull, I didnt care for that. Plus I had to get the engine no. from that little metal plate, all to order a lift pump. Anyways, I guess I will try Freightliner again and see whats up maybe I can get it from there tomorrow, but its too far away to drive clear up to Harrisburg to pick it up. Have not done much research on getting one, just thought Id throw it out on here, I'm not sure if Napa will have them, gonna check them out tomorrow too on account of them being a few mins away.

I tried my local Freightliner, and they reccommended I try another heavy duty truck dealer in the area that dealt with Cummins. They had the gasket there cheaper than anybody else. I could not believe the price difference on these things- the 3 Dodge dealerships I called were between $150-$210, Napa was around $200, and the place I got it from, Truck Enterprise was $75. It certainly pays to shop around. The one thing I found odd was that the front crank seal I also needed was $50 at the dealers and $30 from Napa, but $81 from Truck Enterprise, so I got the crank seal from Napa.
