Well its time for the old lights on my 01 to be replaced. Most recommend sport light conversions but I wanted something a little different. I am considering some fancy aftermarket ones from SPYDER. They look pretty nice but I was wondering if anyone had experience with these or a word of advice. Any Input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I got some from LMC for my 99 (about 200. 00) they were one piece , instead of HL/parklight 2 piece. they installed easily, and were brighter than the stock ones then I got the brigt light wiring mod from genos to be able to run high and low beams at the same time great mods if you drive in remote areas (you see the deer in time)

I don't know which ones the SPYDER's are, but I have a couple of buddies who have bought the one piece units that took them back off because they have no adjustment.

Not my personal experience, but what reliable people have told me.

Scott

I've yet to see an aftermarket pair that are made with any quality. Lines don't line up, fail with moisture inside, cheasy plastic.

at present day Sports and quality bulbs with a SUV harness is pretty hard to beat. everything else is smoke and mirrors to crack your wallet.

Hmm!

Again watching this as I would like to upgrade my headlights also.

Guess I'll look again for the sport lights. I'll see how they will look on my truck which is a work truck and daily driver.

Wonder where the best price for them is?

Tom

After 13 yearsthe orginal were so hazed up and polishing was getting to be a habit I installed lights from LMC. I love them!!! Brighter then stock.

$160 with harness. Dispite what some will tell you they work great without the SUV harness. The only reason to buy the SUV harnes is if you want to run low beam and high beam at the same time. That is the only time you would see more than a stock load on your headlight switch. If you install this as it comes you will probably be satisfied enough to not want to spend the extra cash on the suv harness. I have been very happy with the improvement they made on my truck

I bought some spyder Angel Eyes. It really look good in the box and in your hand I install these cheaply made in China plastic. They only had 3 adjustment where the plastic ball set into pocket. I had gap all around the headlights and after making all kinds of adjustment, I install my old one back in place. The adjustment ball kept popping out and the pocket was wore out.

Is there any brighter bulbs you can buy and leave the stock lights in place?

You can increase the output of your stock bulbs by installing relays in both the high and low beam circuits. It will also cut down on the amperage your headlight switch is carrying. I just posted a diagram that works for '97s and earlier in the current thread titled headlight switch. '98s and newer are slightly different.

lmc truck sells xzenon h/l bulbs (30% brighter) that are direct replacement, or go to the PIAA website for more options

I live in probably the most desolate area in the country, if they show a night shot of the US, the darkest area is the great basin, (mid to north nevada) so IT IS DARK AT NIGHT HERE, so any improvement in lighting is very evident, I have driven state hwy 93 from Wells,NV, to Vegas (500+ miles) and have seen as few as2(!!!!!) vehicles this was christmas eve 2009, most of the time I run my "old" 130 watt KC's no longer available, the most power you can find is the 100 watt, The reason for this long, sad tale is to show that I have some experiance with the inadequate lights on these trucks, since thes are all I have driven for the last 11 years between Vegas and Elko (2 trips a week, 1 down and 1 back ) I think I have found ALL the weak points, or attacked them before they became disasters thanks to YOU MEMBERS, now I'm trying to give back what I can, and this is an area I think I have done the most experimenting with for the $, my suggestion,I think, works best, however, there are brighter lights (HID) the price and install headaches are too high for my tastes. my wifes grand cherokee has 'em and they ARE brighter than my setup, but they came with the car, and they are NOT brighter than my KC 130's, so I hope I helped

my bad I just checked, and Procomp AND KC are offering 130 watt lights again ( but not at the old price) KC stopped offering the 130's for a while THERE BAAACK!!!

Well scratch that. I installed some Spyder lights. COMPLETE TRASH! Worse than the stock non sport lights! They are being returned as I type! I'm going with the sport lights.

I agree with MasterLow got some aftermarket sport lights on ebay

and got fog and moisture in both. I would advise anyone installing

them silicone around the seam before

installing them, might help.

sport lights & harness

I installed the sport lights in the ole 96, I love em!!!!!

The SUV harness take the load off the light switch, all the switch does is activate the relays.

The light switch needs all the help it can get. :-laf
