Changed my crappy headliner out yesterday.

New one is great, fit perfectly!!!

I will be removing it again when I get the wire harness here to install the temp/compass module in the overhead console.

If anyone is interested I will photo and document the procedure when I have it out again.

Pretty simple once you know where a few hidden clips are.

OEM, can't beat the price at $144. 00 list. I got it for a little less than that.

Very happy with fit and finish.

Also if you go with the dealer part it will come freight free, aftermarket ones had some hefty freight charges.

mwilson: My coat hangers are loose. Is there a way to remove/tighten them without messing with the headliner?

If they are loose they must be broken. They have a pair of plastic fingers on the back that fit into a square slot made into the inner steel liner of the cab roof. There is a center piece that pushes in when they are in place to expand those fingers out and hold it tight.

Look at the hanger, you will see that the center pulls out, there is a little notch in the bottom of that pull-out that a small screwdriver will fit into.

Pull that center out about 1/2" or so, then the hanger should pull straight off the back wall of the cab. See if one of the plastic fingers that hold it in place are broken.

Thanks Mike for the info.

I was hoping there was "something" I could tighen-up to eliminate the "play" in the coat hanger... but guess that is not the case. Guess I will just leave it alone if/when the plastic finger-s break.

I am interested in the pics and removal info. I tried to remove mine but couldn't figure out the hidden clips

I promise I will do a full write up with pictures for those interested when I pull it down again. I should have waited for the harness to arrive but I just couldn't stand to look at the old droopy headliner another day when the brand new one was sitting in the garage waiting to be installed..... ;)

I am waiting for my buddy at the 2nd Gen salvage yard to call me when he gets another Ram in with the overhead temp display in it. I have already purchased the overhead unit from him, he simply forgot that I wanted the entire harness as well. He strips the trucks of what he wants and sends them away after a couple of days so if he forgets something like the harness you have to wait for the next donor truck to arrive. :-laf

The minute I retrieve the harness I will be tearing my truck apart to install it. Shouldn't be more than a few weeks from happening.

Mike. :)

I agree on the request for the photos. I have the same problem and was wondering how to do it. I tried tape and glue to hold the material up but it doesn't work too well.
