New Horse in the Stable!!!

Just had to post these. Other than the day I took ownership of my brand new 77 CJ-5, this is the cleanest and done right built I have ever seen in the last approx. 35 years. All new body, frame, nuts & bolts throughout, unbelievable!!! 304, PS, PB, Tilt Wheel, Tach, and drives perfect. It came in yesterday and we had one heck of a party!

Nice bodywork on the tub....the tailgate is almost invisible.

Did you stick with Model 20 rear or change it to a Dana 44?

I haven't looked that close at rear end till I get it up in the air.
It's all NEW body metal. and I don't know where the body parts and frame came from but it's not the imported crap. The imports don't have the seams up and down next to the tail lights and they lack the approx. 4" square panel seen on the center bottom of where the tailgate would be just above the bumper. And look at allot of the "frame off" restorations on line and only part of that seam is shown if any, and of course fiberglass tubs have none of those seams (just cracks ). I've been under this and I cannot find one original bolt or brace, period. It's all new floors, sides, hood, fenders, brake lines retainers and allot of stuff you just can't find new. I seriously looks as if it just rolled off the assembly line 1900 miles ago, no kidding! It does have the red poly bushing everywhere except the upper shackles at the frame and body mounts. This is identical to my 77 that I special ordered from Toledo in 77. My black 79 one is getting some touch up work done on the lift right now, but when it comes off I'm going to put this Greeny up in the air and take some better photos. I've been all under this new one on a blanket and it's unbelievable, especially for how long I've been looking for a clean one like my old 77. Only deference is this has 304 all stock, runs real strong, tilt wheel, and no top. I don't need a top anyway because this one like the black one will only be driven on sunny days and dry roads. No off roading these unless I take them on the 4 wheeler trails on our property when there is no mud.

Tru-Tracs and Desert Dogs are all time greats!

All in all, I'd much prefer to have a fully rebuilt/restored older CJ like your's than a new one. More character, less cookie cutter. And again, love the shop.

Tru-Tracs and Desert Dogs are all time greats!

Both of mine are factory built w/o tailgates. That's the same way my old 77 was built at Toledo. I prefer this to the rattling, rusting, and water entry a tailgate can provide. I had a set of Desert dogs for a while on my 74 Bronco. Hell of a mud tire, poor hywy wear and real noisy and eventually got rid of them for a taller tire. The only DD you could find in Ohio back in the 70's we 10 x 15". Those would have been awesome in a 33". You could always here someone coming down the road if they had Desert Dogs, best described as a low pitched growl. Had to get a pic in of my old Bronco when I was still wet behind the ears.

Ran those tires(Armstrong Tru-Tracs) on my 79 FJ40, not much else available back then worth messing with imo. I also had a set of Desert Dogs on my 78 Dodge Dreamer MH, don't really remember any specific growl...and Les Schwab gave me a great deal on them.
