I lost my spare ignition key. Called Dodge Dealer, they quoted me $77.00 for the key and an additional $24 to program the key. I had no choice but to order the key. Is there any way to program the key without a dealer getting involved. The dealer told me the key has to be in the key switch to program.

Thanks

You can get replacement keys at some hardware stores or other places where they make these specialized keys. I used to manage an ACE HW and we charged $70 for them including programming.

You can buy a key for about $20.00 on ebay and program it yourself if you have two woeking keys. Some places are reluctant to cut the keys but local locksmith did mine for $5.00. I lost ny second key early on and had to go to dealer, $239.00 Charged an hour labor to program. It takes all of two minutes to program. bg

I am looking at my '05 key and it doesn't look like a programmable key to me. You sure an '03 key is that way? Are you talking about the key or the door opener thing? The door/alarm fob can be programmed without a dealer. The routine is in the owners manual.
