I thought I should mention that I am putting the remaining NEW IMPROVED NO LEAK rear main seal s that I had made on ebay today. When these are gone I will not be making any more of them unless I get an order for 800 or more pieces. I have about 60 more that I will sell. I am saving 20 of them for myself.

I figure that I will not live long enough to use them up. The buy it now auction # is 290859279627 .

I made this seal for the first gen trucks but it will fit the second gens as well. I am only posting this in the 1st gen section however. I have already sold just under 900 pieces to 5 different fleets outside of the USA.

Nothing is 100% fool proof. But the reason they do not leak is because of how they were designed . Read the description in the auction. You will find your answers to your questions there.

Copied from the E-Bay auction that has now ended ... ... ...

This seal is made like a normal nitril oil seal like you are used to seeing. It has a tension spring to keep the seal lip tight against the crank. It has a rubber coating around the outside diameter to keep it tight in the seal retainer.

I was an engineer at Chrysler when we first started using the 5. 9. We had a lot of trouble with the rear main seals leaking and blowing out of the seal retainer. There were 13 revisions of the seal in the years past. But the leaking problem remained. The biggest problem was Cummins quality control. The seal retainers alignment could be as much as . 090 thousands off center . The stock PTFE seals did not work with these clearances. They also relied on crank case pressure to hold the lip against the crank instead of a spring. This also does not work when the engine is not under a load. I solved the problem with this new seal . I designed it to seal even if the housing was mis aligned or if the crank was out of round.
