Hey guys, I'm thinking it's time to replace the injectors in my 99'. Does anyone have any recommendations and sources, etc? The truck has almost 289K miles on it and I'd like to stay somewhere close to stock. Thanks.

There are a lot of good injectors around. RV 275's are great bargain priced sticks for a modest improvement. My pick would be Formula 1 Mach series injectors. Rip Rook at Source Automotive is a top notch dealer on the west coast.

I installed Jammer stage 2 injectors from City Diesel about a month ago.

Jammer Injectors (Complete) City Diesel - Diesel Performance

I was happy with both the service and the product. I think that DDP injectors are the "cream of the crop". However, I think that the ones I bought were a really good value. I started keeping a fuel log about 3 months before installing the injectors. Once I have enough data, I'll post my before and after fuel mileage findings. The only thing that I might do different if I had it to do again is that I might install my own nozzles. However, when buying Jammer nozzles from City Diesel, the price difference is about $100 between nozzles only and nozzles installed and properly tested on injector bodies. I did the install myself with only basic common hand tools and a torque wrench. The only hard part was keeping insulation from under the cowl from falling down onto the valvetrain.

Thanks everyone. What prompted this question was that on my way home yesterday morning I got stuck in traffic, which is normal with LAX. As usual, I always kick the tran. in neutral if it's going to be a long time before moving. After a few moments I felt an almost imperceptible rock in the engine... almost like it was going through the shut down shutter. Fuel pressure was steady @ 13-psi and egt, oil, temp was all fine. The first thing that came to mind was bad fuel or a dying VP. I eventually got into a parking lot and hooked up my scan tool and there were no codes. So, I'm thinking that it might be time to replace the injectors??

With the smog testing coming going mild is the key. You have to stay fairly smoke free to pass. with enough air (ported heads) 1. 6's will not smoke on the snap idle. 2% as tested using an opacity meter.

Smog?

I guess I'm not up to speed on the "Smog Test??" Is this something new that our wonderful State of Cal. is imposing?

Yup,at first we were excluded due to GVW,but they have a new draft that includes us. Next year we will have to pass a visual, where they will inspect for all required equipment and no added mods. Then a snap idle test at the minimum and of course a check for dtc's and stock software.

I had a set of 100 jammers injectors and i pulled them back out and put my stock ones back in because the truck would idle rough. So i think i am going to try the ddp 75hp ones next. We will see

Guess we shouldn't be surprised; there is no way the governor and his cohorts are going to pass up on the revenue it will generate. I wonder about all the people that live in my area and the mods they've done to their Fords and Chevys'? The state of Cal. estimates that there are somewhere in the neighborhood of 500,000 diesel light duty trucks in state. Sad situation when the gov' can tell us what we can and can't do with our personal property. #@$%!

I put in the RV275 injectors and am very happy with them. I do not have smoke. It's also a great time to run the valves. Be sure and use good lube (50\50 oil-STP) on the o-rings. Only special tool you will need is a inch pound torque wrench. Shouldn't take you over 2 hours for the whole thing
