I was looking at the Ford 6. 0 site and come across a post where someone said "stay away from the new Dodges, they have injector #5 problems".

OK, so who has had injector failures or know of them occuring in the new Dodges quite frequently? (like as frequently as the injector problems Ford is having).

Or is this guy over there trying some scare tactics?

I've never heard of one, and I've been reading just about every thread in the 3rd gen forums here since before the trucks were even out. I don't think the injectors are new designs to Cummins either.

I've noticed they try to start rumors about Dodges in a desperate attempt to justify their $40k+ mistakes. They even do it over on the TrailerLife (Get-a-Life) forum. The new 6. 0 is off to such a poor start, if you ask an owner how his truck is doing the answer will be, "I know tons of people who bought a new Dodge and the kids couldn't get in the back seat, the transmission blew out all over the dealer's lot, the rear axle exploded, the frame cracked, and the brakes gave out". OH MY GAWD! And now they imagine "we" have injector problems? They should look in the mirror. What next, we have glow plug failures, turbo failures, cackle, romp, oil pouring out the rear main, dead peddle, rough idle, stalling, or fuel in the crankcase? I think they've been taking classes from the news casters in Iraq. Totally oblivious to reality.

Ok, now I feel better. :D

I was going to buy the Ford 6. 0. The package is pretty sweet, runs great and looks like it gets good mileage. The cab is bigger and I think the back seats are more comfortable. Then I got to reading about all the problems, and spoke to some Ford mechanics, loose flywheels, leaky injectors, starters eating flywheels (a 2000 dollar disaster I have been told), turbo problems, loose oil galley plugs, glow plugs etc... I looked under the hood and it is hard to see anything, much less work on it. I am going to be my own warranty station as soon as it turns 70K maybe sooner. It would be nice to at least be able to see the serpentine belt! The Cummins is much easier to work on, if it ever needs it, and I can actually see most of the accessories, even the mounting bolts without tearing half the engine bay apart. The 6. 0 is all new and I like the reputation the Cummins has for durability. I have not read or heard anything about injector problems and I visited several dealers before buying. When the tall boys ride with me, I can just slide the seat forward a little. I am glad I went with the Dodge now. I can not believe the spell check here does not have Cummins in the library!  ;)

ggsoldan,

I was in the exaxt same situation and made the same choice with the Dodge. I figure if anyone starts complaining about discomfort from lack of room in the back seat, I'll just say fine, I'll go get a Ford, drive you halfway, and make you walk the rest when engine shuts down, your choice. :-laf :-laf :-laf

;) Mine was not in the steering wheel, it was more of a front end rumble. You had the definite feeling of vibration in the front end. I think I am running on all six though, at least the truck is, no weak injectors and I am not into personal injection... ... :)

HELP!

My #5 seems to be firing fine, but I'm having a lot of troubles with my #7 and #8 injectors. Hopefully someone can help me before I have to bring it back to the dealer. :D

#7 & #8 Injector problems?

... if your having problems with your #7 & #8 injectors, it must be that the plug wires are loose or the plug gaps are too large. :D

You guy's have it all wrong. All you have to do is go see the CumminGs rep at the Ford dealer and get the upgraded 8 cylinder distributor cap. (Disclaimer) Extra 2 wires not included, tech support unavailable, extra 2 cylinders available at a significant price, some bubble gum and bailing wire required for installation, may effect original CumminGs Ford warranty.

Dave

The problem is the Ford guys can`t get over the realization that the wires to the #5 injector is internal in relation to the cloaking devise on the #7 & #8 cylinders which house the glow plugs.

OK, please stop or you are going to jinx our beloved Cummins.

Anyone heard of being humble? Lets just be thankful its them and not us having all of the problems. Remember, the '03 is brand new and many of us (myself included) swallowed hard and took a huge risk trading in the RELIABLE (never been to the dealer for anything) 24V 2nd gen for the new 3rd gen truck.

So far, I couldn't be happier, but time will tell. And just so you know, my buddies own a '96 and a '99 Ford diesel and the stuff they have had to deal with blows me away. I don't like the Fords and the Chevy's are super ugly with the frame rail hanging below the body like 10".

Two complaints with the new truck... 1) how come the 3500 SWR has tires with less weight carrying capability than my '01 2500 (3195 lbs vs 3400 lbs)?

2) how come Dodge spent so much time and effort with the new cab, but not much with the bed? For example, there is a ton of room in front of the rear tires that could be used as a "tool box" that opens up like a "glove box". That would be innovative and useful!

Thanks.

Yep, that guy is right about our 2003 CTD's having engine problems. Sure... ..... and the information minister over in Iraq is right when he sayes they have us surrounded!!!!!!!!;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
