Trailer Wiring and Groud Issues

must be pulled by a one ton pickup. I heard this law was passed three weeks ago, has anyone else heard this.

THAT SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT, ANYTHING LESS THEN A 1 TON ISN'T A TRUCK. I'M NOT SURE BUT 16' MAYBE ALITTLE MUCH FOR A HEAVEY HALF, I MEAN 3/4 TON.

If they plan on enforcing this law thiers gonna be alot of people getting alot of tickets. What are the Toyota Tundra owners with the 28' mountain aire travel trailers gonna do?

Are they saying that they have to be 1 Ton Trucks or Duallies,,,, If the are one specifially stating "1 Ton" They is a very easy fix for that,,,,,,,, PN 55295312AB "RAM 3500" (94-02) Most cops dont know the difference as long as you state will let you buy enough tags for the trailer your pulling

JWhitcomb... I'm not sure, I was hoping somebody else had heard about this. I got my info from two different people, one in Virginia another in Mass, both in the hauling business.

Trizae, all they said was one ton.

I'm sure a law like that is total BS. The way it is stated says nothing about weight. Shoot, an 18' boat on a single axle trailer would be illegal.

I doubt a law like that could be passed. if so i am in trouble,my 18 ft open car trailer is to much for my 2500 according to them. . Im not going to worry about it. We dont need any more laws ,they just need to enforce the ones on the books now. Im willing to bet 75% of the 3/4 tons towing ,and 1/2 the 1 tons on the interstate are over the GCWR and GVWR.

this is farely crazy,,,,,,,,,,,, my car trailer is 18ft,,,,,,,,,, i have seen 2wd 300 6Cyl f150 draging 18ft trailers around,,, My 97 2500HD with Fatory Trailer Tow and Camper Special Group Can handle a lot more than a K3500 Chebby,,,,,,,,

Sounds like a misunderstanding. What does an 18 or 20' trailer weigh, 3500? Don't remember, but I towed a 20' Aristocrat, old heavy mutha with a Ford Bronco, full sized. Tow limit was around 7k & the trailer was WAY under.

Aren't the full size Blazer types good for 7 kilo lbs? Don't think an 18 or 20' trailer weighs that much.

This sounds ridiculous. Why wouldnt this be calculated by weight? Our 17' boat on a 20'+ trailer weighs in at 3k lbs. My ole F150 pulled it just fine and was plenty safe. I would raise some he** if this law came about here in Colorado. Way overkill IMO

You can't be serious.

But is case you are... ... ... My truck(from the factory) has all the same items as a one-ton, less the training wheels, badges, although mine came with the correct towing transmission... ... ... ... . a manual... ... ... ... and at this point I'm sure my heavy-half ton POS will smoke yer arse towing-------- anything.

If you aren't serious, disregaurd these facts. :D

Rob,

I think all us "training wheel" drivers are just a'yankin you "girlie truck" 2500 drivers' chains. It's all in fun. ;) :D

Think I'm gonna have to throw the B. S. flag on this one as well. ;) Can't pass laws like that anyway without either grandfathering vehicles or having a phase out period. Good try though! :D

The only other option would be for them to buy me a new truck w/training wheels, since I drive a "girlie truck. " And it better have stacks. :D
