Guy's today I decided to try and fix my clearance lights mounted on the roof. Over the years they have gotten very dull and look old. Not the shinny yellow clearance lights like on the new trucks at all. I have never tried buffing plastic parts or lenses, but this look so bad I figures I really had nothing to loose. I looked around for some aftermarket ones but never found the exact match. There are some clear ones out, but only for the Ford and Chevy truck. Anyhow ,I took a new flannel cotton buffing wheel and used a bit of jewelers rouge and went for it. I figured since it is plastic and most likely isn't to partial to heat, I would use light pressure and keep the piece moving on the wheel. In less then 10 minuets I took 5 clearance lights from junk yard old, to looking pretty much like new. They have their shine back and all the haze and whitish spots are gone. I wish I would have taken a before and after picture, it would have shown up nice. But I was lazy and real didn't know if I could help them or not, so you'll just have to imagine the difference. So if you have an older truck and want to spruce up the lights, just remember "You can do it!"
