Purchased new lift pump on 3rd july from cummins west. Installed on 27 Aug. pressure with simple 16psi guage screwed into fuel filter cannister wa 14 at idle. Stayed good for three days or 700mi. On fourth day lifted hood and noticed at idle it was 9psi. left job and drove 80mi home and now down to 0-psi. Cummins part#3990105 with harness extension and banjo washer kit. Just wanted to let everyone know that it is still big problem. Will call cummins west to see if they will make it good? Will order another one anyway. Have 7psi pusher kit from enterprise under seat but have not installed yet as I am not sure my completly stock 99 needs it? Lots of threads on subject both ways. I would install it for sure if I was into the extra power thing but my main priority is reliability and longivity. Just using truck to make a living. Steve in N. Ca. 122k and truck seems to be running fine. any replys appreciated.

If you put the gauge on the top of the filter then it is more likely that the gauge went south due to all the shaking on the Eng get a new gauge and put it on hose at least one foot long off eng mount your choice. I have sending unit and electric gauge in cab. That way continuous readings possible on the go or at start . LOL Ron Bissett in LOUISVILLE KY:confused:

A load of bad fuel??

Maybe you got a bad load and it's gumming up the pump. Not sure if it only clogs the filters so bad or effects the pump too. Just a thought.

Other guys have had the same problem with new lift pumps, I think Steve StLaurent had a bad one out of the box. If I remember correctly Cummins has a 6 month waranty on parts purchased from them...

Pump is OK

Ron Bissett! I LUV YOU MAN!!! You were right on the money. $10. 00 guage + 3' . 25"hose and I am a new man. . Pump is 16psi at idle 14psi at neutral 3000rpm parked. Mounted by windshield wiper. Yes when I had the other guage directly into the cannister it was very irratic. Also spent 3mo in KY in 1959. "Beutiful Country" Thanks again Steve...
