Archived New lift pump not lifting

I just put a new lift pump in my truck and it doesent seem to be working. I did the usual bump the starter technique and i got no humming and no pressure on the fuel gauge. I checked both the plugs on the pigtale that came with the pump and they were tight and clipped in. I need some help with this quick its getting cold.

its possible its dead out of the box. i had one from cummins. did you check to see if you had power at the pump? if there is power the pump is dead.

It's also possible there is no power to the lift pump, which might explain why the first pump "failed".



If you have access to a mechanics test light with a sharp prod tip, bump the starter to set the 25 second run cycle and see if 12 volts is available. If not, you have other problems to resolve.

Thanks for the replies I got it going. I got tried everything then finally tried to start the truck and it fired up after about 30 sec of cranking. I have no idea why the lift pump would not kick on before the engine was running.
